What to Bring
During the admission and registration process you will be asked to provide information about yourself, as well as financial information. Please be prepared to present:
• a picture identification card
• all active insurance cards
• any required co-payment
Physician orders and insurance verification will be done at this time.
The patient or responsible party may be asked to complete and sign several documents, including consent for treatment and authorization to bill insurance. Co-payments, deductibles, or non-covered charges will be paid prior to being admitted or registered. Patients who do not have insurance, or cannot pay at the time of admission will be referred to the Business Office for short-term payment arrangements.
Hospital Room
All rooms at Jacksonville Medical Center are private, and each one is equipped with a telephone, remote-controlled color television with cable, and an adjustable hospital bed with a nurse call button. Your room has an individual heating and cooling unit so that you can adjust the heat and air conditioning to your comfort.
Food Service
Wholesome, nourishing, and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. Jacksonville Medical Center makes every effort to provide nutritious meals that are prepared according to your physician's orders. The usual serving times for patient meals are as follows:
Breakfast: 7:15 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Visitors are welcome to eat in the cafeteria. The usual serving times for visitors are as follows:
Breakfast: 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Visiting Hours
Visitors can be good medicine for patients. Family members and friends are welcome to visit. However, patient care is our primary concern at Jacksonville Medical Center, and, in order to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting hours and regulations have been established for each unit. The General Visiting Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Due to patient privacy requirements, any information about the patient’s diagnosis or treatment must come directly from the patient to concerned family members or friends. No information will be given out by the switchboard operator or nursing personnel. The patient may be reached by dialing (256) 435-4970 and asking for the patient by name.
Gift Shop
A gift shop is located in the Front Lobby of Jacksonville Medical Center. Endless Treasures is operated by the medical center's Auxiliary members and volunteers. Gift items, greeting cards, and snacks are available in the shop which is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Waiting Areas
There are specially-designated lounge areas for visitors on each patient floor and on the main floor in the lobby. Specific waiting areas have been designated for families of patients in the critical care units, the Emergency Department, and Surgery.
Housekeeping Services
A member of the housekeeping staff cleans your room daily. If there is a housekeeping problem in your room, tell your nurse, and it will be taken care of as soon as possible.
Flowers and Mail
Flowers and mail will be delivered to the patient's room by the hospital Auxiliary.
Newspapers
Newspapers are provided by Jacksonville Medical Center and are delivered to the patient's room by the hospital Auxiliary.
